Description
A girl, a Fairy Rockmother and an electric guitar. It’s a new look (and sound) for an old tale set against the backdrop of Ancient Egypt. Pyramid Rocks! is a pop rock musical with a twist on the Cinderella story. Shemayet is a girl brought up in the fields who loves music, a skill which doesn’t impress the landowner and her three daughters who treat her as a servant. In her despair, Shemayet meets Fairy Rockmother, who gets her going on a barge headed for the palace to play in a music contest for the Pharaoh. Pyramid Rocks! turns out to be a “show within the show” with lively dancing and singing numbers, a bizarre plot to undo the Pharaoh, and the discovery of Shemayet shredding the golden electric guitar to win it all.
