Massages for Mama

Benefits of Massage

By Amy Rose Stoner, MacKid Stockton Publisher October 26, 2023

For the first time in a long time, I was able to treat myself to an incredible 90 minute massage with the talented, Ronica Villa. The pain and discomfort I was feeling was starting to affect my daily activities and my entire body was screaming for some relief. Booking this massage couldn't have come at a better time. In fact, I wish I had done it a lot sooner. My body has been suffering for a while and I didn't realize how many areas of concern I had until I filled out the intake form before the appointment. Before the service even begins, we are able to share where we are experiencing the most pain or tension. That way she can customize the massage session to troubleshoot those problem areas.

One thing I really loved about this massage, is that unlike massages I've had in the past, Ronica incorporates deep breathing. At the time, I wasn't really sure why she would tell me to take a full deep breath in and slowly breathe out at certain points. However, the guided breathing allowed me to experience a deeper sense of relaxation during the massage and helped me focus on inhaling and exhaling in a more controlled manner. I now know that those deep breaths also help to oxygenate the blood supply and aid those super-tense muscles and boy did I have a lot of them.

Now, more than ever, us mamas are feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Between the demands of family, work, and just everything else that goes on in life, it's no wonder we are starting to feel our mind and bodies break down. It is necessary that we take time to focus on our needs not only as moms but as women.  While stress will always be a part of life...there are ways to help at least relieve it. There are options and massage therapy is definitely one of them.

While we may think that massages are just for "relaxation," it really is more of a tool in promoting better mental and physical health. Here are just a couple reasons to get a massage:

1) Relieve Stress and Tension Headaches

2) Reduce Anxiety and Muscle Tension

3) Better Sleep and More Energy

4) Improve Cardiovascular Health and Blood Circulation

5) Ease Symptoms of Depression

Even Health professionals are recommending massages more often. I am definitely on board with building that into my wellness routine.

Also, if you are like me, I absolutely love a good pampering session at the spa but I feel that it can be more cost effective to find a massage therapist whom you can see on a more regular basis.

So, if you have been searching for a way to relieve stress and reduce pain, it might be time for you to schedule an appointment with Ronica Villa, CMT #84956. Right now she is offering MacKID subscribers an amazing discount of $20 off any 60 or 90 minute service. It's a great way to experience total relaxation and to help improve your overall health.
