Letter from the Editor

January 31, 2017

It has taken me some 30+ years to learn that not everything can be or needs to be controlled by me. Some things just need to take their course and I need to just sit on my hands for a bit and take action when I am in a good place once again. This weekend’s newsletter was one of those “LET IT GOOOO” moments. As you see we have finally transitioned to our new look and set-up. It looks great right?! But, the change was not without its bumps. I was not able to get the newsletter out on Monday as I had promised. The site looked messy for a good 2 days, and it still has some bugs. But, what could I do? Breathe, focus on work, play my ukulele, breathe, cook, breathe. And now at 8:00 PM,  I think things are finally ready for me to do this!

Ok, so are you ready for survey results? Over 85% of respondents were happy with the newsletter, calendar, and social media content. But just about everyone provided some great suggestions for IMPROVING the newsletter. And that is what I was looking for. Over half of parents preferred Monday as the date to receive updates. DONE! Except for this week apparently. Over half of parents wanted to see more local community resource information and education/parenting articles. Starting next week, you will see more featured articles that will highlight a community resource and/or education resource. Also, check out our Facebook page for more parenting information during the week. And over half of parents wanted more free activities. This is always my goal for the events page. Please share the newsletter with your churches, schools, community centers, employers and encourage them to submit events. This is the best way to add more free events, but I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open for you and add quality events to your calendar. Thank you again for your feedback and for allowing me into your life through this newsletter!
