Parents needed to shape Stockton's future

August 28, 2016

Have you ever said out loud: I wish Stockton had more parks, less crime, more shopping centers, more youth programs, etc? We ALL have complaints about our city but we as parents also have solutions in mind for the problems we see in our community. Yet we parent constituents are often not at the table where these solutions and ideas are discussed. Taking care of our families and keeping our children busy and engaged is a worthy use of our time, but we also need to take the time to share our ideas with our local leaders. After all, this city also belongs to our children, and aren't we the experts of what is best for our children?

Such an opportunity is being offered in the month of September. Envision Stockton is offering two workshops on September 20th and 21st where all citizens are being asked to discuss their vision for the future of our city and identify key issues that the City's General Plan hope to address. If we want to improve this city for the benefit of children and families, then we the mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunties, and uncles of these children need to lend our voice and vision and we need to show up in strong numbers.

I will be there and I hope to see you there too.
