McKinley Park Field Improvements
COMMUNITY MEETING TO REVIEW OPTIONS

(Stockton, CA) โ€“ A community meeting will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the McKinley Community Center, 424 E. 9th Street, to gather input from the community on designs to improve sports fields at McKinley Park. City of Stockton Public Works and Community Services Departments will present designs developed by gathering information from community members and organizations that use the park and sports facilities, followed by group discussion and idea-sharing about options and improvements. Members of the community are welcome and encouraged
to attend.

โ€œOur sports fields are a key component in creating a quality of life for our residents,โ€ said John Alita, Director of Community Services. โ€œMcKinley Park is one of the largest parks in South Stockton. Continuing to improve fields and other park amenities at McKinley will go a long way toward enhancing the quality of life for those who live near the park and those who enjoy the facilities the park has to offer.โ€ McKinley Park is a 22-acre, neighborhood park with sports fields, basketball courts, handball courts, and picnic tables. In 2016, the City Council recognized the need to improve the amenities in McKinley Park and approved one-time funds for improvements to recreational facilities.ย

These funds were made available prior to the passage of the Strong Communities Initiative (Measure M), which was approved by voters to restore and expand recreation and library services throughout Stockton. Additional improvements to amenities such as the pool, tennis courts, community center, and basketball courts have been included in the Strong Communities Expenditure Plan as priorities for projects in future years.
