If fall had a signature experience, this might be it. The River Fox Train's Pumpkin Patch
Express combines everything that makes the season special, from pumpkin picking and
warm apple cider to breathtaking countryside scenery and festive family fun! Running every
weekend throughout October, it's an autumn celebration that begins the moment the train
leaves the station and continues long after the journey ends.
Upon boarding, guests are immersed in the spirit of autumn. The train is adorned with
seasonal décor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere as it winds through the
picturesque farmlands of Yolo County. Along the route, guests can sit back, relax, and soak
in sweeping views of golden fields and crisp country landscapes, all while enjoying the
timeless nostalgia of rail travel. For adults looking to enhance their journey, the onboard
bar offers a curated selection of handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers, and regional
wines available for purchase.
At the heart of the experience is an exclusive visit to the River Fox pumpkin patch,
presented in partnership with Sacramento favorite Dave's Pumpkin Patch. Once the train
arrives, guests are invited to stroll through the patch and select the perfect pumpkin to take
home, creating a classic fall tradition for visitors of all ages. The experience is made even
sweeter with complimentary warm apple cider and seasonal treats, adding the cozy flavors
of autumn to an already memorable day.
Beyond the pumpkins and refreshments, the experience is filled with opportunities to make
lasting memories. Families can enjoy quality time together, couples can take in the
romantic countryside scenery, and the photographers in your family will find countless
opportunities to capture the beauty of the season. And when the train returns to Elkhorn
Station, the festivities continue! Guests can enjoy a variety of activities including mini golf,
bocce ball, a bouncy house, and more, subject to additional cost. With a freshly picked
pumpkin in hand and plenty of family fun still ahead, it's the perfect way to cap off a day
filled with fall traditions, seasonal charm, and moments worth remembering.
With multiple departures available throughout October, it's easier than ever to plan the
perfect seasonal getaway. Whether you're continuing a cherished family tradition or
discovering the experience for the first time, the Pumpkin Patch Express offers a fresh way
to celebrate everything that makes autumn special.
